Cape Cod Commission Launches New Cape Cod Outdoors Data Viewer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (August 31, 2026) — The Cape Cod Commission is pleased to announce the launch of Cape Cod Outdoors, a new interactive online experience that brings together information about more than 500 outdoor recreational sites across all 15 Cape Cod towns.

Cape Cod Outdoors is a comprehensive online data viewer that helps residents and visitors discover outdoor recreational opportunities across Cape Cod and find places and experiences that match their interests. Each location features an interactive map, photos, and detailed descriptions that highlight site features and accessibility.

The map-based web application includes filters to sort by location, activity, type, accessibility features, and more. It includes a “surprise me” feature that will load a site at random to help you explore more areas across the region. 

Information about outdoor recreation opportunities on Cape Cod has historically been spread across municipal websites, land trust resources, planning documents, and other sources. Cape Cod Outdoors brings that information together in one regional resource, making it easier to find both familiar destinations and lesser-known places to explore.

Developed with funding from the Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation, in partnership with the Compact of Cape Cod Conservation Trusts and the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, the project draws on information from municipalities, conservation organizations, planning documents, community input, site visits, and other sources to create a comprehensive inventory of outdoor recreational opportunities across the region.

“Cape Cod’s open spaces are essential to the character, environmental health, and quality of life of our region,” said Kristy Senatori, Cape Cod Commission Executive Director. “The Regional Policy Plan calls for protecting and strengthening a connected network of natural and recreational resources. Cape Cod Outdoors makes that network easier to discover and experience, helping deepen people’s connection to the places we are working together to protect for the future.”

Users are encouraged to help keep the resource current by sharing information about additional recreational sites or suggesting updates to existing listings.
